As photographers, have you ever stopped to consider what lies beneath the surface? Not just in the sense of the physical world around us, but the depths within ourselves? This was the question that fell part of our June photowalk in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. In posing this question to photographers, it doesn't just bring a philosophical aspect to your photography; but harvests a playground of ideas and seeing..
As a group, this concept allowed us to capture not just what we saw in the landscape, but how we felt, exploring the many hidden layers, with many looking beyond the obvious.
The vital key of this concept was to allow photographers on the walk to show, not tell. It's so important to let your photos speak for themselves, using visual metaphors and even symbolism to evoke emotions and ideas. Presenting work like this allows the view ponder the story behind the image, the unseen world you've chosen to reveal.
This time around, there was a nice pub (The Mill Inn) to end the walk with, where we all caught up, shared ideas and most importantly, had a giggle too.
These photowalks are open to photographers of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, come along to one of our walks and just have an open mind, and a willingness to experiment and play, along with engage in a wonderful community.. We'll provide prompts and inspiration to help you capture the extraordinary within the ordinary.
